each candidate believes, USA Today reported.

re-election; in their place are candidates who believe evolution is  
well-supported.

principles for life, but in its ancient wisdom as well.

encouraging me to encourage you to press forward in the battle for the  
culture. He said people of faith should not feel that the traditional,  
Biblical marriage issue is settled. He said even now there are a number  
of strategies under way to redefine marriage and that the close  
decision by the Supreme Court (5-4)* would be a part of those  
strategies.

It is a time for change.

We must replace the judicial activists with qualified people who will  
rule according to the law (as five of the Supreme Court justices did)

judges, but the judges, it seems, aren’t cooperating. Though they had  
the opportunity to answer a short questionnaire concerning their  
judicial philosophy, most of them declined.

David Fowler, president of the Family Action Council of Tennessee,  
sponsored the questionnaire in conjunction with Tennessee Right to  
Life, the American Family Association, Eagle Forum and Focus on the  
Family.

God Removed From Military Flag-Folding Ceremony

The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers has succeeded in  
getting the Air Force to rewrite an unofficial flag-folding script that  
included references to God. Though the change happened last summer, it  
has gone largely unnoticed.

"The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the  
lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and  
glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The  
twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem  
of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and  
Holy Ghost."

But the Air Force has replaced that unofficial script with an official  
one that contains no religious references.

Wisconsin Unions Oppose Ballot Initiative to Protect Marriage

Labor unions in Wisconsin are coming together to oppose a proposed  
state constitutional amendment that would define marriage as the union  
of one man and one woman, The Associated Press reported.

amendment passes.

"Backers of this ban are trying to break deals and take away rights and

confirmation hearing this morning for Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, who  
has served as the acting commissioner for much of President Bush's term  
of office.

ALL's Judie Brown: 'Most Important' Pro-Life Bill Could End Abortion If

bill currently before a House committee could bring an end to abortion

Hunter, contains no exceptions for an abortion or compromises any

H.R. 552, which now has 100 co-sponsors in Congress, establishes "equal

$1M Donation Moves Creation Museum Closer to Debt-Free Goal

the Christian apologetics ministry Answers in Genesis (AiG) has been

and prayers of thanksgiving -- when a Colorado foundation recently made  
a one-million-dollar donation to the project.

Georgia Office Seeker Blasts Ruling Favoring High School Gay-Straight  
Club

(AgapePress) - A federal judge recently issued a ruling requiring White  
County High School in Cleveland, Georgia, to allow students in the  
Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club "Pride" to meet on campus. However,  
the Republican nominee for attorney general in that state says he would  
like to see homosexuality-affirming student clubs banned from the  
state's schools.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) had filed a lawsuit against  
the White County School District in February, claiming school officials  
violated Pride's rights under the federal Equal Access Act, and a  
federal judge agreed. But Perry McGuire, a candidate for Georgia  
Attorney General, says the judge's decision allowing the pro-homosexual  
club to meet on the school campus was "terribly unfortunate."

Ford Sponsors GLAAD Media Awards
'Stand By Our Company,' Automaker Pleads

(AgapePress) - While the Ford Motor Company continues to argue that a  
pro-family group's boycott is having no effect on auto sales, the  
company sent out an e-mail pleading with dealers to ask customers for  
help.

Chairman Bill Ford sent the e-mail in June to Ford dealers, requesting  
that they "ask customers to support Ford." The e-mail said customers  
"should stand by our company because of our innovative products,  
because for generations we've been a positive force in American  
society, and because our successful Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealers  
have made their communities stronger."

The American Family Association (AFA) began its boycott of Ford because  
of the company's vigorous support of homosexual organizations that push  
a radical agenda, including the legalization of same-sex "marriage."  
The automaker also advertises in homosexual political publications  
which frequently publish articles that insult Christians as bigots who  
preach "a gospel of hatred and discrimination."

"This is a clear sign that Ford has chosen sides in the culture war,"  
says AFA chairman Don Wildmon. "And they have sided with sexual  
radicals who hate Christianity."

Gibson's Career Safe Despite Recent Incident, Says Christian Media  
Critic

(AgapePress) - A well-known media critic says Mel Gibson's recent  
arrest for drunk driving may not have a long-term impact on his  
influence on Hollywood.

Last Friday, Gibson -- producer of the 2004 blockbuster film The  
Passion of the Christ -- was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff's  
deputies for driving while intoxicated. Gibson reportedly made a number  
of anti-Semitic remarks, claiming that the Jews were responsible for  
all the wars in the world. The actor later issued a public apology,  
announcing through a publicist that he had made some "despicable"  
remarks but making no mention of the reported anti-Semitic comments. He  
has now apparently entered a rehabilitation program to deal with  
alcohol abuse.

...Rev. Rob Schenck says the last thing Israel needs in a time of war  
is next week's "WorldPride" homosexual-rights festival in Jerusalem.  
Schenck is president of the activist group Faith and Action, which is  
urging American Christians to sign an online petition that asks Israel  
to cancel the gathering. He calls WorldPride "an offense against God"  
and against the deeply-held beliefs of Christians, Jews and Muslims in  
the city they all consider sacred. The six-day festival in Jerusalem is  
to include a "multifaith convocation" featuring the head of the  
homosexual-friendly Metropolitan Community Churches and a lesbian rabbi  
from New York. [AP]

...Pro-family activists in Florida are stepping up efforts to get a  
marriage protection amendment on the ballot in 2008. Supporters of the  
constitutional amendment, which would define marriage as only between a  
man and a woman, are hoping to conclude the petition drive by the end  
of August. John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy  
Council, says the state needs a constitutional amendment to protect  
traditional marriage, despite what critics say. "The laws were on the  
books in Massachusetts too, until some activist judge -- an  
unaccountable, unelected member of our government -- with one stroke of  
a pen erased 6,000 years of history and tradition and, really, what's  
best for children," Stemberger comments. "This is really insanity. It  
has to stop." According to the Council spokesman, about 50,000 more  
signatures are needed for the amendment to be placed on the 2008  
ballot. He encourages those who have not yet signed, but wish to do so,  
to download the petition at his group's website, sign it, and sent it  
in. "It's a very important, historic effort happening around the  
country," he says, "but specifically happening here and now in

a broad coalition of far-left organizations which has launched a new  
strategy in the assault against the family; the so-called “same-sex

are calling one-size-fits-all marriage to include issues like  
abstinence education, divorce laws, and marriage promotion efforts. In  
addition, they want to link together people from diverse concerns ––  
sexual orientation, race, gender identity, class distinctions and

Guttmacher Wants Public Funding For Contraceptives

The Guttmacher Institute, the think tank for Planned Parenthood, has  
recommended public funding of contraceptive services and supplies for  
young women and women in poverty. While their headline focuses on poor  
women, the fine print also includes young women.

The recommendation, in effect, helps Planned Parenthood get around  
parents in order to provide contraception for teenagers and to get the  
federal government to satisfy Planned Parenthood's gluttony at the  
federal trough. Moreover, the public has a right to know that Planned  
Parenthood's idea of contraceptive services includes abortion and they  
are the largest abortion provider in the nation. It is worth noting  
that the institute's research was funded through a federal grant from  
the Department of Health and Human Services.

'Morning-after pill' will do more harm than good

Abortion advocates claim that making the "morning-after pill" available  
over the counter would be safe and reduce pregnancies and abortions.  
The real-world experience shows just the opposite.

The morning-after pill is a high dose of the birth control pill, which  
requires a prescription to guard against serious complications such as  
blood clots.

August 1, 2006 - The Washington Post did conservative voters a favor  
two weeks ago by running a feature on the newest venture of billionaire  
atheist/socialist George Soros and his ally, millionaire homosexual  
activist Tim Gill.

Soros and Gill (who made his fortune as founder of Quark), have formed  
Democracy Alliance, a group that lavishes millions upon radical liberal  
groups that are willing to tow the Soros/Gill party line.

Democracy Alliance is part of a whole network of organizations that  
form part of the Soros shadow government in the U.S. The Center for  
American Progress, a liberal think tank run by former Clinton staffer  
John Podesta, is one of these power groups. Media Matters for America  
and Air America are two additional groups in this shadow government and  
others include: Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington;  
Center for Progressive Leadership and many others. Twenty-five groups  
have received the blessing of Democracy Alliance and are receiving  
funding.

Senator Sam Brownback Sponsors Public Expressions Of Religion Bill

August 3, 2006 – Kansas Republican Senator Sam Brownback has introduced  
S. 3696, the Veterans’ Memorials, Boy Scouts, Public Seals, and Other  
Public Expressions of Religion Protection Act of 2006.

On August 1, TVC sent the following letter to Capitol Hill offices:  
LETTER

This legislation is based on the same premise as Rep. John Hostettler’s  
(R-IN) H.R. 2679, the Public Expression of Religion Act. The Senate  
Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Property  
Rights held a hearing on Brownback’s bill on August 2nd and provided a  
webcast for it.

Brownback’s version, like Hostettler’s, is designed to close a loophole  
in federal law that the ACLU and other anti-Christian groups use to  
file lawsuits against public displays of religion in America. When  
these groups win lawsuits, they are awarded attorneys fees from the  
losers in the case. In effect, the ACLU is funding its anti-Christian  
activities on taxpayer money from hundreds of lawsuits filed over the  
past decade.

FDA Discusses Approval Of Strong ‘Morning After’ Abortion Pill

August 2, 2006 – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is planning on  
meeting with representatives of Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc., to discuss  
marketing a non-prescription version of the Plan B abortion pill. It  
would be available over the counter to girls 18 years and older.

The  provincial  government  has  reached  a  settlement  shrouded  in   
secrecy,  with  the  complainants  Murray Corren and Peter Corren in  
respect of their complaints (Nos. 75 and 941) to the B.C. Human  Rights  
  Tribunal  alleging  the  existence  of  systematic  discrimination  in  
  public  school.  The  above  complaints  were  first  launched  in   
1999.  Apart  from  the  secrecy  as  stated  above,  the  provincial   
government unilaterally reached such unusual and unprecedented  
settlement in complete absence of  any consultation with the public.  
This was done in total disregard of any democratic process, the rights   
of members of the public, particularly, the rights of parents and  
students.
