All my ukulele-playing friends (um, that's you Pam) shoulda been here Weds night, the Cook Islands International Food Festival was down to BBQ chicken or BBQ fish by the time I got there but then they got going with the music and the dancing - that's something else. They say here that they have the most fierce and sensual dancing in the Pacific Islands and I'm prepared to believe them until I see otherwise.
It's been easy enough to settle in here (public transit: do you want the clockwise bus or the anti-clockwise bus?) but I'm having a bit of trouble relaxing enough to fit in. I'm heading out to Aitutaki, a smaller island with fewer people on it so I hope that I will be forced to go slow.
Had a good Thanksgiving with a handful of other Polies who are here, hope you all out there had an excellent evening. Had a great fish dinner, drank cocktails, dodged gecko poop.
NZ was excellent too, didn't get to do as many outdoors activities as I wanted to once the rain set in but I didn't really mind: after a year without rain, waking up in a little cabin way way out in the boonies with rain pounding on the roof, nothing to do but stoke up the stove and watch the mountains - that wasn't too bad.
Internet's not real cheap here so I'll keep this one short. I'll miss the climate here once I'm back but I'm looking forward to seeing you people again.
Best,
-Sarah
